2007 Tip Tap Tots™ Mini Dance Camp - 2 Separate Weeks
Week 1: July 16 to 20 ~ Week 2: July 30 to August 3

The Tip Tap Tots™ Mini Dance Camp is made up of two groups of children: ages 4–5 and ages 5-7. The goal for the 5 days is to ignite creativity through movement. By combining the strong fundamental elements of dance with the self-assurance needed to explore and experiment with movement, we prepare children to respond to music in order to express themselves beyond using words. Parents and families of the students are invited to attend a small recital on the last day of the Mini Dance Camp.

Creative Movement

During this 45-minute class for 4- and 5-year-olds, children have fun while learning through games that encourage and develop physical coordination, self-esteem, sociability, musicality, and self-expression. Proper technical instruction during exercises helps to create flexibility, control, and strength while improving concentration.

Ballet, Jazz, Tap, and Musical Theatre

For children aged 5-7, each class is 30 minutes. In Ballet, the emphasis is on weight placement and the proper positions of the feet and arms that are used in all balancing poses and movements in dance. Exercises begin at the barre before moving into the centre, and include use of the arms, hands, and head together while performing steps, jumps, and turns with the lower body in time to music. Jazz expands on the steps, jumps, and turns learned in Ballet, and is set to popular or more rhythmic music that encourages each student to lend his or her own personal style or accent to the movement. Tap promotes coordination and an acute sense of rhythmic patterns. In Musical Theatre, singing and acting are combined with dancing to tell a story. Students learn different ways to show an audience how they feel and what is going on in the story. Simple dance choreography is set to music that is easy to understand and fun to sing.
